When it comes to putting up a fence that lasts, the posts are just as important as the panels. We supply a full range of wooden fence posts made from pressure-treated timber, perfect for everything from garden fencing to agricultural setups. Whether you’re building a brand new fence or just replacing a few old posts, we’ve got the sizes and styles you need, and the advice to help you get it right the first time.
Wooden posts are a solid choice for many fencing projects. They offer a more natural look than concrete, they’re easy to cut and work with, and if you treat them right during installation, they can last for years.
We only stock pressure-treated timber, so every post you get from us is protected against rot, fungi, and insect damage. That means less maintenance and longer life. They also blend in beautifully with timber fence panels, especially if you’re going for a softer or more traditional garden look.
If you’re building a picket fence, waney edge fencing, or using timber gravel boards, wooden posts are the natural pairing. And if you’re installing gates, we offer heavy-duty posts to take the extra weight without leaning or twisting over time.
We keep a wide range of sizes in stock to suit different fencing styles and heights. Whether you need 75mm or 100mm thickness, 6ft or 10ft lengths, we’ve got options to suit. Not sure what size post you need for your panel height or layout? Just ask — we’ll work it out with you.
As a general guide, you’ll want your post to be at least 2ft longer than your fence panel height so you can set it deep enough in the ground for proper support.
Every timber post we sell is pressure treated. That means the protective treatment has been forced deep into the timber, not just brushed on the surface. It gives the wood added resistance to rot and fungal decay, especially important when part of the post is buried in damp soil.
We recommend using post caps or finishing the top of your posts with a slight angle to encourage rainwater to run off — it’s a small detail that makes a big difference over time. Our team can guide you on all the little things like that if you’re unsure.
We speak to homeowners, landscapers, and builders every day, and we know not every project is straightforward. Maybe you’re replacing some old posts and not sure if you should go for wood or concrete this time. Maybe you’re building from scratch and want advice on spacing, fixing, or what gravel boards to use underneath.
Whatever the case, we’ll walk you through it. You’re also welcome to visit us near Colchester and see the posts for yourself before you buy. Sometimes, it’s easier to get a feel for what you need in person.
We make and stock everything you need to complete your fencing setup, not just the posts. If you’re starting a full fencing job, you might also need:
